The way that focal length affects depth of field is that the higher the "mm" the more blur is going to be behind the subject. The point where a lense is actual focusing gets smaller as you zoom in more.

Jimmy hickey: In most of jimmy pictures he always adds a sense of fun with movement. All aspects of the pictures are given movement including the subject and the method of taking the picture its self. He likes to use a shallow depth of field with a high focal length to make the picture draw attention to the subject.
